Post-Worthy: Bacon Roses

For father's day, Jillian decided to make two bouquets of bacon roses. I believe she got the idea off either facebook or some crafty etsy site. Either way, it took a lot of effort and bacon to get these nice looking "roses". I thought they looked great. Tasted pretty good too. Definitely a hit.

Our First Pensacola Blue Wahoos Game - June 20, 2015

July was a long month and Jillian wanted to do something exciting and new so she bought us tickets to a minor league baseball game. Not being a big fan of the city of Mobile, she opted to buy tickets to a Blue Wahoos game in P'cola. The travel time was no big deal as both stadiums are about equal distance from the house. On the plus side, the Mobile Bay Bears happened to be playing in Pensacola that weekend, so we wouldn't have had a choice in the matter after all.
I have to say, I was very impressed with the whole experience. Parking was a breeze, even with a mostly packed stadium. The stadium itself is extremely nice; clean, friendly workers and a view of the water just beyond the outfield fence. They even set off fireworks after the game was over. I know for a fact that we'll go back, b/c it's the future and we already have. For the record, the Bay Bears crushed the Wahoos. It wasn't even close.

Memorial Day Weekend - 2015

I've got a lot of catching up to do here so I'm going to make the next few short and sweet. Back around May, when this should have been written, Jillian got herself a set of golf clubs. Her first set. Because we hadn't used them yet, we decided to break them in over Memorial Day weekend. We didn't want to spend a lot of money so our options were a little limited. In the end, we settled on the Gulf State Park course in Gulf Shores AL. Neither of us had ever been there, so it would be exciting for both of us.
The course itself wasn't terrible for $26/person including cart fee. The greens were a little beat up, but it looked like they were in the process of cleaning them up. That didn't help us though. We decided early on that we should just play best ball to speed up the process and make it enjoyable for both of us. Overall, I thought we played quite well as a couple. We even birdied one of the long par three's on the back nine. I cleared the water hazard landing about 20 feet (Jillian says more like 100) from the hole and Jillian sunk the following put. We both found it to be extremely impressive. The final score card was not worth keeping so I can't tell you how things ended. Moving on...

As if golf wasn't enough celebration, Jillian capped off the weekend with a nice steak dinner.

May 15, 2015 - Stella's Birthday

Stella Blue turned 5 this year, so naturally there was a big to-do about it. She got the royal treatment from her mom. Treats out the wazoo including a giant cookie topped with peanut butter and tuna fish; her favorites.
