The due date is quickly approaching. Roughly 5 weeks until our daughter arrives. It's still an odd feeling. I know a life changing event is right around the corner, but it hasn't really sunk in yet. I have a feeling that it won't really hit me until she's in my arms for the first time. Everyone says she'll have me wrapped around her finger and, regardless of how much I may deny it, they are probably right.
I'm just ready for her to get here.

34 Week Ultrasound
Not much to report on the baby front. Our daughter-to-be is growing fast and all appears well. I'm posting our latest ultrasound despite its lack of interesting content.

Babymoon / NYC Trip - Dec 2015 (Part 3)
Day 4:
At the beginning of the day, we had a pretty good idea of what we still wanted to do while in town and it became pretty clear that we may have booked one too many days in our hotel. We had an abundance of time, so we felt no need to speed through future activities.
Our first stop of the day was the American Museum on Natural History. Give credit to the movie magic of "A Night at the Museum" for making this place look like an exciting place to visit, because it was not. Perhaps stuffed animals are less enthralling when you've seen nearly all of them alive. Either way, the only thing that Jillian and I found interesting were the dinosaur fossils on the fourth floor.
Better than the museum was the surrounding neighborhood that we strolled through afterward while looking for a good spot for lunch. We grabbed some sandwiches at a sports bar and then explored a flea market going on within the gates of a neighborhood park & basketball courts. We didn't buy anything but found a really cool, old-school Auburn University pennant.

Our entertainment for the night was a Broadway show. It took us a while, before our trip, to decide on one but we decided on "Wicked"; a play about the wizard of oz. I know nothing about any of the other plays available, but I'm positive that we picked correctly. 'Wicked' was perfect. Dinner was the opposite so I'll skip talking about it. I will note, however, that we did a little exploring after the flea market and found the fur-baby's ornaments along a street market. I also got a free Stella glass from the street bar seen below:
Day 5:
Our last full day in New York was more of a half day. We grabbed some breakfast in Times Square before walking to the M&M's store to grab some treats. We dropped off our chocolate goods and then made our way to the Empire State Building. Unfortunately, it was a foggy day so there was no view of the city. It may have been a small blessing in disguise, b/c no view meant no line... and there was PLENTY of space for lines in that building. Two floors of lines to get into elevators. Our trip up and out was less than an hour.
We planned to tour Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum afterward and then realized it would cost $80!!! Having walked over 40 miles during the trip, it made more sense to just called it an early night. I got some takeout from a nearby restaurant and we packed before going to bed.
Day 6:
Up at the crack of dawn and off to the airport.

Day 3:
Jillian wanted to get us started with a fancy bagel breakfast so we walked several blocks south of our hotel to "Best Bagel and Coffee". There was a line out the door and, for some reason, I immediately turned into a Debbie Downer. Despite my bad attitude, the line moved quickly and the bagels were excellent. There wasn't a lot of seating so we ate in a little park right in front of the iconic Macy's store. Our next stop was the 911 Monument and Museum which meant jumping on the subway. Normally nothing special, but this was Jillian's first time on a subway car, of any kind.
The spot where the twin towers were had changed a lot since either of our last visits (before we met and both more than 10 years ago). The holes in the ground, surrounded by fences, had be replaced with beautiful water features lined with the names of victims. I wasn't aware, until we got there, that Jillian also wanted to go through the Museum. There appeared to be two lines. One for buying tickets and one for waiting to get in. Both seemed a hundred people long. I was not thrilled about that either and went back into whiny baby mode. My second episode of bad attitude nearly ruined the rest of the day, but we found out from a nearby employee that we could skip one of the lines by buying tickets on our phone. I did so and we got reserved entry for an hour later. Day saved.
The Museum was interesting but very poorly organized. There was an enormous amount of information, videos and objects but they were all thrown into two small rooms within a very large museum space, leaving huge areas of nothingness.

Jillian decided after our subway ride back to the hotel that the savings of taking the subway wasn't worth feeling gross afterward so that was the last one of the trip. Our entertainment that night was an improv comedy show about 10-15 blocks south of the Hilton. We probably should have grabbed a taxi but we walked instead. The show was alright; not nearly what I experienced the last time I was there, but still enjoyable. Our walk back took us by Madison Square Garden, which I had not seen before, and a pizza place. NY style pizza was on Jillian's checklist, so we made it our dinner destination. Turned out to be a pretty good and pretty cheap meal.
