Babymoon / NYC Trip - Dec 2015 (Part 1)

Knowing that it's only a couple of months before our lives change drastically, with the arrival of our first child, Jillian and I took the opportunity to take one last vacation before the madness. Going overseas during pregnancy wasn't a preferred option so we decided on a city with everything you could ask for in entertainment; New York.

Day 1:
We left town on a Thursday, and to avoid taking a vacation day, I worked until noon and joined Jillian at the house before driving to New Orlean's Louis Armstrong International Airport. Our flight left at around 6pm so we didn't touch down in New York until around 10pm. A taxi ride downtown and we were at our hotel; The Hilton Times Square. We unpacked and called it a night

Day 2:
Our first morning was probably more eventful and exhausting than we had anticipated. Breakfast was stop number one and I had read good things about a waffle stand in Bryant Park (two blocks from the hotel and on the way to Rockefeller Center). We had tickets to the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes' Christmas Spectacular. I wasn't exceptionally excited about our first show of the trip, but it turned out to be pretty good.

After the Rockettes, we walked a few blocks north to the Southern tip of Central Park. I imagined that we would be able to take a casual stroll through half the park as we made our way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It turned out that I had underestimated the length of that stroll and we were pretty exhausted by the time we made it to the museum. I will say, though, that the scenery was fantastic as it looked more like a New England fall than winter.

We decided to take a break for lunch before going inside. It turned out to be a great idea, although it wasn't enough to keep us from losing steam quickly once we made it inside. What we should have planned as a half day trip was shortened to about two hours. We did get to see a lot, but Jillian's expectations fell short as the only thing she really wanted to see, a Monet featured in the movie 'The Thomas Crown Affair', wasn't on display at the time.

Both exhausted at this point, we took a taxi back to our hotel room and relaxed until dinner. It was decided to eat somewhere nearby so we headed back toward Bryant Park to a place called the Cock & Bull. It was a really busy British Pub with a bit of a wait for a loft area table but it was definitely worth waiting. What we considered our best meal during our stay, I had sheppard's pie and Jillian had chicken pot pie. After dinner, we made a quick tour of Rockefeller Center and the Sac's Fifth Avenue area and then left before being trampled by the crowds.
